Description:
Based on the eternally popular classic of classics, this Air Dam (Front Spoiler) improves the aerodynamic stance of your Z in style! It is designed to increase front end downforce, and is an ideal companion to most rear spoilers. This Type-1 inspired Air Dam features a pair of low positioned pockets that are fully enclosed on the back to protect the sensitive side of most lights (they can be drilled, cut out, or otherwise modified as needed for component installation). These rectangular recesses measure 7" wide by 4 1/4" tall, so they will accept a wide range of light sizes. It is made of high quality fiberglass, and comes ready for prep and painting. It replaces the original lower valance on 70-8/74 240Z & 260Z models while keeping the turn signal openings, and installs using the original valance hardware (not included).

Non-Light Pocket Options:
If you do not need an air dam with the light pockets, our standard Type-1 air dam is mostly the same design as this air dam. See 50-1401 in Related Items for the non-pocket version (non-pocket also available in carbon fiber), along with other similar options.

Note:
Only fog (lights that shine at low height for a short distance) or accessory lights that do not project forward should be used with this air dam, since the lights will be located below the headlights. Driving lights (lights that project forward a significant distance) should not be installed in the light recesses, as they need to be positioned at least as high as the headlights for proper effect.

Protective Coating:
This fiberglass item has a gel coating to protect the fiberglass itself from scratches. It is not a finish coat. Your paint professional will sand down the coating prior to final priming and painting. You will notice scratching in this surface, which is exactly what it was designed to do, to take any scratching that can occur in production, transport, storage, handling, and shipping, keeping the fiberglass from being damaged. Model Restriction:
*Fits "early" 1974 260Z models produced from 9/73 through 8/74. If you have a 9/74 to 11/74, then you have the "late" 260Z and this air dam will not fit.
