Once you start increasing the performance of your Z engine, the stock timing chain, tensioner, and guide are being pushed beyond the limits they were designed for. The friction caused by the guides and chain tensioner, along with the strain on the timing chain itself, can ruin the strong & balanced power you spent time and money trying to create. To build a strong L-series engine, all of the parts must work together in stability, and must match each other according to the type of power output you are designing into the engine. Like the Twin Idler Gear (10-5470), this timing chain was designed to correct part of the weakness of the factory setup. Original timing chains are prone to both wear and stretching over time. The Kameari Timing Chain is permeated with a manganese phosphoric acid coating, which greatly reduces friction. This prevents the chain from heat seizing, allows the chain to remain flexible in extreme conditions, and reduces chain wear (up to 4 times more resistant compared to non-treated chains). In addition, the chain is reinforced to prevent stretching from high RPM and prolonged use. This chain is great for any Z engine, but is especially recommended for use with the Kameari Twin Idler Kit and those running higher lift camshafts.
