The Story:
The fiberglass manufacturer who makes many of our pieces, like the BRE spoilers, is the same company that made a very limited run of the coupe factory option spoilers back in the 70's directly for Nissan. The SCCA's rules for many racing classes are similar to this: "Aftermarket aerodynamic devices are prohibited with the exception of front air dams/spoilers and rear spoiler, unless a factory option". So to help out the racers of the day to get more downforce, Nissan had a small amount of those spoilers made to give 240Z racers even more of an edge. They were listed as Nissan factory options, so they fit into the rules of the day. Although this 2+2 version was not commissioned by Nissan, it was created by the same company that made them originally, and takes it's design from the coupe version, adjusted to properly fit the 2+2 deck lid and body lines.

Description:
With a shared origin in racing, both the MSA Victory™ and BRE Style Spoilers capture the "resto-look" of the early 70's, with the only difference being their individual heights. The height of the 2+2 Victory™ as measured from the back is approximately 5 5/8" (slightly taller than its coupe counterpart!), while our 2+2 BRE Style spoiler is still in development (so final height is still TBD). Both share the same smooth look on the face and back. This version of the Victory™ Spoiler is made of high quality fiberglass , and comes ready for prep and painting. It bolts on to the deck directly using 2 included bolts, and does not interfere with the lock.
Safety Note:
ALL rear spoilers will increase downforce on the rear of the car, regardless of design. How noticeable that increased downforce is depends on both spoiler design and how the car is being driven. For standard city street driving, the increased downforce from most spoilers typically doesn't have a significant impact on handling. At highway speeds or on canyon runs, it will be more apparent, and a front spoiler is recommended, but spoiler design ultimately determines whether it is required. On the track (or otherwise at racing speeds), a properly matched front spoiler or air dam is always strongly recommended, and should be considered as mandatory (note this is especially true for taller spoilers, such as the MSA Victory™ Spoiler). Please call if you have any questions.
Image & Fitment Note:
The installed images on this page show the coupe version of this spoiler installed on a 240Z. The uninstalled images show this 2+2 version, which is specifically designed to fit on 2+2 model deck lids. See 50-1606 for the coupe version of this spoiler.
Protective Coating:
This fiberglass item has a gel coating to protect the fiberglass itself from scratches. It is not a finish coat. Your paint professional will sand down the coating prior to final priming and painting. You will notice scratching in this surface, which is exactly what it was designed to do, to take any scratching that can occur in production, transport, storage, handling, and shipping, keeping the fiberglass from being damaged. Please let us know if you have any questions.
