Important Image Note: The visual appearance of Carbon Fiber varies significantly based on the lighting, and can be difficult to capture accurately even with professional cameras. It will look different in sunlight as opposed to shade as opposed to various indoor lights. This is especially true of Matte Carbon Fiber. In addition to the main images (taken in sunlight), be certain to see the Gloss vs Matte Carbon Fiber images to compare both in the same (indoor) light.

Matte Carbon Fiber vs Gloss Carbon Fiber: It is difficult to capture the true appearance of the Matte Carbon Fiber in images by themselves. See the "Matte Carbon Fiber Comparison" images in the description below to see the difference when Gloss Carbon and Matte Carbon are compared in the same light.
Image Note: The sculpted style and angles of the Fairlady Z432R Spoiler make imaging especially difficult in regards to reflections. That's the Sun itself reflecting in the carbon fiber in the front-facing images!

Description:
The Carbon Fiber Fairlady Z432R style spoiler has been a popular rear deck lid spoiler for early Z-Cars ever since we first started making them a few years ago. Recently, we've received requests for an alternate version. We listened, worked hand in hand with our manufacturer, and now this awesome spoiler is available in Matte Finish Carbon Fiber! Starting with our most popular deck lid spoilers, the Motorsport Auto Matte Carbon Fiber line offers more subtle, muted tones (see comparison below). We've already heard from many who like it even more than traditional gloss Carbon Fiber. The matte finish has an appearance that pairs particularly well with increasingly popular flat, matte, and satin surface finishes, from paint and wraps to wheels and more. It also contrasts with high gloss finishes for a more unique appearance. Like the gloss finished Carbon Fiber, the pictures don't properly show just how good these parts look; they really must been seen in person to truly appreciate them! (Note: Carbon Fiber spoilers look best when viewed in person installed on YOUR early Z!)
Similar to our BRE Style and Victory™ rear spoilers, the original Z432R rear spoiler shares a racing origin, albeit a somewhat different version. The Fairlady Z432R model was essentially a "factory racing" Z-Car that was sold exclusively in Japan to meet homologation requirements of the time, and was packed with a wide range of parts not available on other factory models. That range of parts included what is commonly referred to now as the "Fairlady 432 Spoiler". Our take on the Fairlady Z432R Style Spoiler is upgraded from the factory version*, and it addresses known weak points of the original. It is similar to our BRE Style spoiler in both overall size and shape with key differences, including the sculpted shape on the front facing side, the curvature on the rear, and the raised section for emblem mounting. For JDM and Fairlady Z styled restorations and builds, the Fairlady Z432R is the best styling option. This version of the Fairlady Z432R Style Spoiler is made of high quality Carbon Fiber with matte finish (see Related Items for the gloss finished carbon fiber and Fiberglass versions), and comes ready to install. Like the BRE Style, it bolts on to the deck directly using 2 included bolts (simpler to install than the original which requires 6), in the same position as the BRE Style, and does not interfere with the lock.
*Notes:
This spoiler is designed based on the early style Z432R spoiler, which was also available as an aftermarket option. Later versions of the spoiler (including the version installed on later Z432R and 240ZG models) remove the sculpting from the front facing side, but keep the shaping on the rear side. Both versions were also a factory, dealer installed, and parts department option (although far fewer of the early versions were produced). Standard Z432 models, along with most other Fairlady models, did not originally come with a spoiler installed, but often times had them added later.
Emblem Notes:
The close-up image shows the "flat" area, which is where the spoiler-mounted emblems were originally installed. All of the combinations of factory installed emblems found on the lower passenger (right) side of the deck lid should properly fit in this raised "flat" area. For those using this as part of their Japanese model restoration, ALL Japanese model Z-Cars originally came with the "Fairlady Z" emblem (31-1120) installed on the deck lid/spoiler except for the Fairlady 240Z models ("Fairlady 240Z", "Fairlady 240Z-L", and the "Fairlady 240ZG"). All Fairlady 240Z models used separate "Fairlady"** and "240Z" (31-1041) emblems instead. Z432 and Z432R models used the "432" (31-1063) emblem in addition to "Fairlady Z". **Note: The "Fairlady" emblem mentioned previously is not available even in Japan, so we recommend converting to the "Fairlady Z" version used on all other Z models in Japan instead if you no longer have yours. See the individual emblem pages for reference on emblem positioning.
Matte Carbon Fiber Comparison:
While traditional Carbon Fiber will always remain popular, Matte Carbon Fiber is a rapidly growing style option in the automotive industry. The full-spoiler images above don't show very well how the two different finishes appear under the same light. The images below will give you a much better idea of what the Matte Carbon Fiber looks like in comparison to the Gloss Carbon Fiber. We took images with lighting reflections on purpose so you can see how the Matte Carbon Fiber diffuses the light. They look awesome!
Safety Note:
ALL rear spoilers will increase downforce on the rear of the car, regardless of design. How noticeable that increased downforce is depends on both spoiler design and how the car is being driven. For standard city street driving, the increased downforce from most spoilers typically doesn't have a significant impact on handling. At highway speeds or on canyon runs, it will be more apparent, and a front spoiler is recommended, but spoiler design ultimately determines whether it is required. On the track (or otherwise at racing speeds), a properly matched front spoiler or air dam is always strongly recommended, and should be considered as mandatory (note this is especially true for taller spoilers, such as the MSA Victory™ Spoiler). Please call if you have any questions.
Fitment Note:
This spoiler is specifically designed to fit on coupe model deck lids. While it can physically be installed on 2+2 models, it does not align correctly with 2+2 deck lids and body line, and will leave gaps at the ends. 2+2 deck lids are also angled differently, so the spoiler will not have the exact same appearance as when it is installed on a coupe model (Note: More 2+2 spoiler options coming soon!).
Model Guide:
Datsun 240Z, 260Z, 280Z
Model Restriction:
For coupe (2-seater) models only. Will not fit properly on 2+2 (4-seater) models.
Code Guide:
