Description:
Valve Stem Seals aren't just simple gaskets. They act more like flow control valves, allowing a very small amount of oil to pass through in order to lubricate the valve stems as they move. These seals wear over time from use, allowing more oil to pass through at first which can eventually turn into a full leak (blue smoke on startup and oil consumption is common with bad valve seals). This quality replacement seal fits on the intake valves on VG30 engines (84-89 300ZX-Z31). See 10-2497 in Related Items for the correct Exhaust Valve Seals.
Note:
Once a Valve Stem Seal starts to go bad, the only fix is replacement. Leaking valve stem seals should always be repaired as soon as possible on models equipped with either catalytic converters or oxygen sensors, as these somewhat delicate components can be damaged by both oil smoke and leaking oil. In general, it is always best to replace these seals as a complete set, but is not always required.
