Description:
Unlike previous Z-Cars, the valve lifters in VG30DE engines fit on top of the valve springs and are depressed directly by the camshafts. The design simplified the valve train by removing the rocker arms entirely (along with their associated components). Due to this change, properly functioning lifters are drastically more important in these engines compared to other Z models. Maintaining oil level and keeping up with oil changes are absolutely critical when it comes to these engines.
Unfortunately, 300ZX engines are still prone to failed lifters even when maintenance is kept up with. The most common issue is when the oil feed port on the lifter becomes clogged, which can result in reduced lift or even collapsed lifters (either partially or fully). At that point, rebuilding or replacing them becomes the only option to restore performance, both of which are rather extensive jobs. Since rebuilding only adds steps to the process, we recommend replacement whenever possible. These genuine, original equipment (OEM) valve lifters are the best replacement option. Sold individually; 24 required per car.
