April 2023 Update: After significant delays stemming from the Covid Lockdowns and resulting raw material and labor shortages, we have finally received 2 of the outstanding shipments of our exclusive sway bar kits. While these shipments included enough inventory to cover most of our existing orders, we did not receive quite enough pieces to cover all of the 300ZX-Z31 backorders. We do still have more kits on order, and we have also asked our supplier to try and push production ahead for us; however, with the various shortages still ongoing it is hard to say how soon we will have these available on the shelf. Manufacturing Delay: MSA Sway Bar Kits are currently on extended backorder as an effect of the Covid Lockdowns and the resulting raw material and labor shortages, along with the various delays in shipping and general increased demand for the manufacturer's product line (which extends beyond Z parts). Our manufacturer has confirmed that we will be receiving the orders we have already placed with them; however, due to the various factors impacting production they are not able to estimate exactly when we will be receiving our deliveries.
This also happens to be the manufacturer of the returned Motorsport Springs, which recently arrived after their own extended delay for the same reasons.
If you would like to reserve a kit when they do arrive, we recommend placing your order with a credit card so we can reserve a kit without charging you until your order is ready to ship. Do keep in mind that our first expected shipment is completely sold out, and the following shipment is getting close to sold out as well (as of November 2022; may be sold out by the time your order is received). Some Thoughts About Sway Bars
Sway bars are really anti-roll bars. Their primary function is to minimize body lean; therefore; increasing the car's handling capabilities. In effect, sway bars are sort of a torsion bar. They work by stiffening the chassis to resist body roll. What size bars are best for your Z? That depends on how and where you'll be using the car. For most street driven vehicles, you need to strike a good balance between performance potential and ride quality. Contrary to some stories you may hear, oversized sway bars will adversely affect your car's ride quality. Remember that sway bars are a chassis stiffener. Consider how hard you drive and the condition of your local roads. Motorsport sway bars are sized to make your Z handle better while retaining a ride quality similar to the stock suspension. Our sway bars are manufactured from automotive grade spring steel. Since sway bars are torsion bars (a form of springs), regular steel will not do in this application. In addition, the Motorsport sway bar uses end link mounts that are forged. Welded on end link mounts are prone to failure.
