Description:
This genuine, original equipment (OEM) Liquid Gasket Maker is used widely on Z-Cars starting with the later 300ZX-Z31 models equipped with the W-Series engine block. It is commonly used around the cooling system where a gasket is not used, as well as the oil pan on the same model. For 90-96 models, it is also used throughout the cooling system and parts of the lubrication system, including the oil pan and the outer valve covers. Starting with the 350Z, this sealant is used all throughout the power train on various components, from the engine all the way to the differential.
Note:
Nissan has used several formulations of liquid gasket maker over the years. Newer Factory Service Manuals call for the exact sealant used by Nissan when the engine was assembled, then usually list an alternative/equivalent sealant that was available at the time (this is done with most service related chemicals). Some older manuals simply specify the Nissan part number at the time of printing and don't specify an equivalent. In the case of Z-Cars, Threebond 1217H is suitable to replace all previous sealants Nissan specified (Threebond 1215 and Threebond 1207C were the most common). The introduction of the W-Series block in 1987 was done over a series of months. February of 1987 is the official date of the change, but some earlier production months sometimes have these and some later months will have the earlier series blocks. We recommend checking both the serial number and casting number of the block if you aren't sure which you have.
