Part #:18-9061
Price: $34.87
Availability: This part has been discontinued by Nissan; however, we've located a limited number of these OEM Filters through our overseas supplier network. We are doing all we can to keep limited items like this in stock, but may not have them on hand at all times. As with all items Special Ordered from overseas, it can take some time to arrive in our inventory, and that time can vary widely for each order (Special Orders from Japan can take anywhere from 1-3 months or even longer, as an example). We'll confirm current availability after we receive your order, or you can always contact us ahead of time.
Estimated Price: Pricing on factory Nissan parts that we source directly from Japan can change with every order we receive. The price listed on this page is based on the most recent shipment from our importers, and applies to in stock inventory only. We recommend using a credit card to place your order so you won't be charged up front if we are out of stock (PayPal will charge you up front regardless). If we are out of stock, we'll let you know what the final cost will be once it is confirmed (we believe this part will be close to the same price).
Again, Nissan has discontinued this part already, and even our sources for them will eventually run out. Even if we are currently out of stock, we recommend placing an order (with a credit card as noted above) to reserve future inventory. If you know that you need this part for your Z-Car, don't delay too long or you might miss out entirely!

Description:
The carbon canister on your car is designed to draw fuel vapors from your gas tank and prevent the tank from over-pressurizing. The filter inside the canister goes bad over time; however, the filter tends to deteriorate quite rapidly if liquid fuel reaches it (from over-filling at the pump, for instance). We recommend inspecting/changing out this filter with every tune-up or if you are having trouble passing an emissions test (carbon canister issues tend to show up as a high hydrocarbon count). The carbon canister filter is one of the easiest to replace emissions components; simply slip out the old filter from the bottom of the canister and tuck the this genuine, original equipment (OEM) replacement back in its place (no need to fully remove the canister from the bracket).
Note:
We do not recommend removing the carbon canister for any reason other than replacement or cleaning/restoration. Unlike some emissions components, removing the carbon canister does not lead to any sort of performance gains. Removing the canister can lead to over-pressurizing the fuel tank, which is a very dangerous situation when it occurs.
