Description: If you hear a clunking sound when you shift gears while driving your 280ZX, one of the more likely culprits is the differential insulator. Over time, the rubber in the insulator ages and wears, which eventually allows for significant play in the driveline that results in the clunking sound. Replacing the mount is the only way to fix the problem and prevent total failure of the mount; a potentially disastrous situation. Genuine, original equipment (OEM) mounts like this one are the best for most street driven applications.
Note: Unfortunately, Nissan discontinued this mount many years ago. Although there is no official supercession or service file, the R-200 version of the mount is nearly identical to this R-180 version. The key difference between the two is that the R-180 uses 12mm studs for the mount while the R-200 uses 14mm studs. This means that the R-200 mount has stud holes that are larger than the original R-180 mount. When properly positioned and torqued, the R-200 mount will work as a suitable replacement.
