This is the genuine, original equipment (OEM) bolt that goes down through the cylinder head into the top of the timing cover. It can also be used in the lower corners of the timing cover, to hold the two halves of the oil pump together, and to secure the balance tube to the intake manifolds on carbureted models. Factory replacement for 74-78 models. For 70-73 and 79-83, the original replacement bolt did not have a preinstalled lock washer. In some cases, adding a lock washer on these years can cause the bolt to not fully thread into the timing cover.
