Available again! This plastic receiver was unavailable for some time due to a manufacturing change at Nissan. We've finally worked out most of the details* and are able to offer these hard to find clips once again! We cannot say just how long it will remain available, so if your ZX needs a replacement, don't delay! (It might even be worth stocking up for the future!)

Description:
This is the genuine, original equipment (OEM) threaded receiver fitting that goes along with the interior thumbscrew fasteners. When combined with the thumbscrew, they make accessing the spare tire much simpler than most other cars. Unfortunately, they are also susceptible to age related wear like most other plastic parts, and typically become brittle over the years. They are used to hold the plastic spare tire cover in place on 280ZX* and 300ZX-Z31 models, and are part of the hardware for the 280ZX tonneau cover. Sold individually.

*280ZX Spare Tire Cover Note:
While the 280ZX spare tire cover uses 2 thumbscrews to secure in place, only one of these fittings uses one of the plastic receivers (the forward fitting). The rear position at the tail light panel uses a different fitting, which is not available at this time. Additionally, some models used a different version of this fitting, which was about 2mm taller, white in color, and equipped with a black foam gasket. Which models used which version of the clip is unfortunately not included in the Nissan data we have available (which includes original Nissan microfiche copies among other resources). To make matters worse, production changes over the years led to one version or the other being unavailable at different times; even the Nissan part numbers were crossed between them at one point! Most of the cars we've seen over the years had this version installed. We do have a limited supply of the gasket type available if you find that your specific 280ZX requires them; see 40-3980 in Related Items.
