Description:
This Borla ProXS universal fit muffler is a great option for those planning to build a custom exhaust for their Z/ZX. It pairs especially well with our performance L6 headers, particularly on early models without a catalytic converter or premuffler. The dimensions are nearly identical to the included muffler for our exhaust kits, making it a particularly good option in cases where the kit muffler needs to be replaced.

*Note:
This muffler is designed for universal fitment. It is able to flow in either direction, allowing for the offset end to function as the inlet or the centered end as the outlet. Our MSA premium or performance exhaust kits are configured so that the centered end should be used as the inlet and the offset should be the outlet.

Application Note:
This muffler is meant for custom exhaust builds or as an alternative for Motorsport Auto 2 1/2" performance exhaust systems. It is not meant for stock pipes, which are significantly smaller diameter. Other aftermarket systems may not be close enough in dimensions or tube position to fit well. See Related Items for a 70-78 stock replacement muffler. Installation Note:
Oval performance mufflers should be positioned at an angle for a proper fit on 70-78 Z-Cars. For 79-81 280ZX non-turbo models with right side exhaust exit, the muffler installs horizontal with offset outlet toward the passenger (right) side. For 81 turbo and all 82-83 models with left side exit, it installs horizontal with the outlet toward the driver's (left) side.

84-89 Note:
This muffler is a fantastic option for those looking to build a custom exhaust for their stock or lightly modified 300ZX-Z31 Turbo.
