Description: TEAS stands for "Tanabe Electric Active Suspension", and is the counterpart of the new Sustec Pro-SEVEN suspension kits. This compact unit is the 'brain' behind the highly sophisticated new Tanabe suspensions. TEAS is a fully programmable dampener controller that allows for dampening force to be automatically adjusted while driving. TEAS accomplishes this by connecting and using the signal from your 350Z's Speed Sensor.
Remote dampening control from within the Z is not a new concept. Some of the 280ZX & 300ZX models had electronically adjustable suspensions. Unlike other controllers that are simply an update of this older 'analog' technology, TEAS is a much larger step towards highly digital advanced suspension control and tuning through it's speed sensing "Active Mode". TEAS' active dampening control is uniquely possible due to the use of the specialized valving of the SEVEN, in conjunction with TEAS' slim, high speed actuators. These actuators change dampener settings in 1/100ths of a second, which is necessary as TEAS can continuously change settings at different speeds.
* ACTIVE MODE: This mode takes readings from the vehicle speed sensor to automatically make changes to dampener settings for the front and/or rear of the vehicle. When programming TEAS, you may program up to 9 'triggers' that occur when you reach a variety of speeds. Iincrements of as little as 5mph can trigger a dampener setting change. Once Active Mode is programmed and turned on, TEAS will automatically adjust settings as your drive. For any road, be it a circuit, city street, or winding road, there was usually never one single 'perfect' suspension setting. One dampener setting could be good for one high speed turn, and then it would cause understeer on a lower speed corner. This concept of suspension setting is changed with TEAS Active Mode, and allows drivers more control, and less compromise on performance. Because handling characteristics change within fractions of a second, it would be nearly impossible to attempt manually adjusting while driving. TEAS is a different concept due to high flexibility of the ACTIVE MODE, since the suspension will continuously adjust according to how you chose to program it.
* MANUAL MODE: When TEAS is in Manual Mode, dampener settings will stay fixed to the points they are set at. Up to four memory slots may be used to store Manual Mode settings. Manual Mode allows front or rear dampener settings to be individually adjusted by manual input, or recalled from any of the four saved settings. Additionally, Manual Mode settings can be used as 'base maps' from which the ACTIVE MODE programming can work off of. By simply pressing the button to switch to Active Mode, TEAS will be able to actively use any of your four saved manual mode settings.
* High Speed Actuators: Because the TEAS unit is an active suspension controller that can continuously change dampener settings, the speed of the actuators is key. Active changes in suspension need to be quick and immediate upon reaching the programmed 'trigger' speeds, so TEAS actuators are designed to change settings in an amazing 0.013seconds. (1/100ths of a second)
* Exceeds OEM standards for quality: Every component of SEVEN and TEAS exceeds OEM standards for quality. Some new luxury vehicles have actuators on their suspensions to switch from Normal to Sport suspension, TEAS' actuators exceeds these automakers in quality and reliability. The ultra slim profile actuators have a protective boot to protect the intricate inner working of the actuators, for flawless and accurate operation. These ultra slim actuators are made of metal, instead of the bulky inexpensive plastic used by some competitor brands.
* Ultra Silent Actuation: Since TEAS can continuously and automatically change dampener settings, quiet operation is a necessity. Other manufacturers have extremely noisy actuators since their units are not active, and must be manually adjusted. TEAS has settings to have an audible beep for dampener changes, with volume settings, and logically, an OFF option for quiet operation.
* Memory Storage: TEAS uses onboard flash memory to store settings. This onboard memory means that memory settings can be saved and recalled, even when the battery is disconnected. TEAS can store four manual mode presets which also work as Active Mode 'base maps.' One Active mode program may be saved for a total of Eight settings. TEAS also has backup memory onboard, should you wish to restore default settings.
* Speed Signal Sensitivity Adjustment: TEAS is a passive system that connects to and reads many different speed signals, and has calibration options to adapt to the speed signal of any vehicle. Since many cars are equipped with aftermarket stereos, amplifiers, and other hi-interference devices, TEAS has the option of adjusting sensitivity, to prevent getting false electronic signals and interference from these types of devices.
* High Contrast LED Backlight: TEAS uses a high contrast LCD display for easy reading. Blue LED backlights can brighten and dim for simply, trouble free night and day use.
