The hoses of the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system are known to dry out, harden, and eventually crack, split, or fall apart. A split hose can lead to a check engine light in the best of cases or debris getting into the engine in the worst case (which can lead oil contamination and eventually internal damage). It is best to inspect these hoses periodically and replace them if they start to harden or develop any sort of surface wear. This hose routes around the front of the lower intake plenum collector and connects the left rocker cover to right rocker cover, allowing fresh air to reach the right side of the engine. Sold individually, one required per car.
This hose does not use any clamps to hold in place. Caution needs to be taken when removing the old hose. Due to its position on the engine, this hose tends to be much more brittle than the other hoses in the PCV system by the time it is generally replaced. If care is not taken, the old hose can either break in chunks or crumble depending on how bad it is. If any debris falls into the elbow, you will need to remove the valve covers entirely!
