Description:
Fusible links are designed to protect your car's wiring and electrical components in the event of an electrical surge (such as voltage spikes or current overloads). In extreme cases, proper links can be the difference between a minor inconvenience/repair and the salvage yard! This genuine, original equipment (OEM) fusible link connects the starter and wiring harness. It includes the proper ring terminal on the starter side and connector on the harness end. Be sure to inspect the connector on your harness for damage as well; we now offer a replacement if needed (see Related Items). Sold individually. While each car only requires 1 link, it's generally a good idea to keep a spare fusible link on hand in case of emergency, as you never use regular wire in place of a fusible link (see Fusible Link Safety note below).
Fusible Link Safety:
Fusible Links are much more than a length of wire. They are specifically designed using a special type of wire construction, with special safety insulation made of heat-resistant cross linked CPE (Chlorinated Polyethylene). Using regular wire in place of a fusible link, even in an emergency situation, is extremely dangerous. This is true even if you choose standard wire that is smaller than the circuit, because of the level of fire-resistant insulation. If you use a standard wire that is the same size or larger than the circuit, you are at a high risk of catastrophic failure of what is in that circuit, or even a car fire. We recommend always having spare Fuses and Fusible Links stored in your Z, especially if you travel.

Supercessions:
This part number is “superceded”. Most of our supercessions originated with Nissan. A part made for a Z31, for instance, may actually be the same as the part made for the Z32, but it was given a different number. Nissan would then later supercede the number, so that if you ordered the part number for the Z32, what you would actually get is the original part number for the Z31 (or vice-versa), as they are the same part. Other times, supercessions can exist between different parts on the same car, as is often the case with hardware of the same size. These supercessions were Nissan decisions, where replacing the “superceded from” part with the “superceded to” part results in identical performance. The vast majority of them are simple numbering changes, where the parts are literally identical. In some cases, the two parts are identical in fit and function, but the finish is slightly different, or the non-critical overall dimensions are slightly different (like one starter housing being ¼” shorter than the other on the non-attached side). They do not affect the function of the part, and in many cases, the “superceded-to” part improves upon the “superceded-from” part.
